Dancing robots now on duty at San Jose International Airport

Go ahead, stare.
Norma, Amelia and Piper, the three robots put into service this week as customer service agents at Mineta San Jose International Airport in California, won’t mind.
Although they may offer you directions or try to get you to take a selfie. Or dance.
SJC is serious about its role as a travel hub for Silicon Valley, so "hiring" robots to engage and entertain travelers — and point them to the airport’s dining, shopping and other services — makes sense.
“Our robots offer travelers who are arriving and departing through Silicon Valley's airport with an iconic experience reflecting our region’s unique culture of innovation,” said San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo in a statement.
The robots, which are stationed on geo-fence mats by Gates 11, 21 and 25, have large 32-inch touchscreen tablets running Windows software and can display information in English, French, German, Japanese and Spanish.

All three Future Robot-made robots can also dance, play music and take photos that can be sent to a traveler via email or displayed on the screens that serve as the robot’s "faces."
“Children of all ages are loving our robots,” said airports spokeswoman Rosemary Barnes. “It's our way to connect, serve and inspire while transforming how Silicon Valley travels.”
